I spent my entire childhood thinking how wonderful life would be just as soon as I could leave the High Country of North Carolina. After graduating from Avery County High school with a determination to ensure that my dreams would come true, I went to college and attained a BS degree, and to be completely-absolutely-positively sure that I would escape, I also attained a graduate degree. Just as I finished with my sights set on Texas, Mom became ill and asked that I remain near for a while. So, I took a temporary position teaching Physics, Engineering and Astronomy at the local community college in Spruce Pine. 25 years, a wife, two daughters and a Christmas tree farm later, I could not be more pleased that ‘life happened’. My family and I enjoy hiking beautiful mountain trails, golfing on some of the nation’s finest courses (my oldest daughter will be attending college on a golf scholarship starting this year (yay!), fishing in pristine mountain waters, attending plays at the Lees-McRae Summer Theatre, biking on the Creeper Trail and my youngest daughter and I love to rev up our dirt bikes as often as we can. I now fully believe that no other place is as perfect as it is right here in the North Carolina High Country. I would be honored to help you find the perfect mountain home where I hope that you can fondly look back one day because “life happened”.
